Why College of Charleston Should be invited to the A-10.

If SLU and Dayton leave the A-10 in the next few years, the A-10 will be searching for replacements once again.

The Cougars from the College of Charleston could be a replacement for one of those schools. Charleston joining the A-10 is not as impossible as it seems. Their addition would be a logical one for the Atlantic 10 Conference.

Since the 08-09 season, the C of C men's basketball team has won an impressive 118 games. Even though the Southern Conference is notably weaker than the A-10, winning 118 games the last four seasons is no fluke when you are competing against respectable programs in Davidson and Elon. Arguably, the Cougars in recent years have been the best team behind future A-10 member and biggest rival Davidson College. If you guys didn't know, C of C and Davidson were big rivals with one another and last time I checked. Rivalries are still important in NCAA Athletics, regardless of all this conference realignment nonsense.

Here is an interesting fact to keep in mind: Charleston fans show up and support their beloved Cougars. They average 3,873 people for their home games. Having nearly 4,000 fans for their home games is definitely something the A-10 would be interested in adding.

Though the Cougars recently upgraded conferences by taking their talents to the Colonial Athletic Association, the A-10 is their ideal place of what they consider to be home. Better basketball/Davidson= HOME. Their biggest rival in Davidson left them in the dust so...why not join the A-10 and get some revenge on the Wildcats? Why not join a better basketball conference if invited? Heck, maybe College of Charleston can lead other Southern schools to follow their path to the A-10. The A-10 might lose some of its Midwest roots in the future, but doesn't some Southern flavor sound better? Charleston can bring that flavor along with other notable Southern Conference schools.

  2. I agree with addition of Davidson, CofC would be a great addition. Especially if Dayton and St. Louis leave for Big East.
